MYTH #1: You just need to take more adaptogen herbs!

But they don’t. 

In the end, you’re still stuffing more and more into your life and falling into the never ending spiral of overwhelm. 

Instead there are two very important approaches to dealing with an overflowing life. 

  1. Get rid of excess (especially, if possible, things that aren’t causing you joy)
  2. Change your relationship to overwhelm (see Myth #3). 

There’s no single hack (or ten hacks) that will magically transform your levels of overwhelm or sense of resilience. (Spoiler alert: the Building Resilience course can, though.)

Your current levels of stress and overwhelm aren’t indications that you need to toughen up, be less sensitive, or get over yourself. 

Resilience isn’t about being tough, or about ignoring life’s realities. 

Instead, it’s more about learning to be like the willow that easily bends in the breeze, or the dandelion that firmly roots itself into any place it lands. The plants we love are so adaptable, and learn to thrive, not despite but BECAUSE of their own unique qualities. 

 MYTH #3: If you could escape your life, you’d feel better.

You can take a step out for a few weeks here and there, but at some point, your patterns will creep back in, even if you’re living on a tiny island in the Bahamas with no responsibility.

What’s in the course?

 

Building Resilience is built on journal prompts and meditations which are created to help you develop skills for resilience and embody deep, lasting changes.

There are 4 modules in the course, and each module has its own playbook.

The lessons in the Playbook are a compilation of information that we have researched and studied over the years that we have been practicing as herbalists. We’ve drawn from a variety of disciplines, like neuroscience, ecology, herbalism, and our studies of the Humoural Temperaments.

 Building Resilience is paced generously, with bite-size lessons spaced out week by week. It’s structured so that you have the space to read, practice, and assimilate the lesson for the week without feeling rushed or adding to your overwhelm.  

Each Phase contains…

  • Prompts to help you develop the skills to transform your sense of overwhelm into ease. 
  • An extensive and beautiful PDF playbook that will guide you through the course materials.
  • 1-3 downloadable meditations.

 

Phase I 

  • Phase I guides you to connect to your core self – the essence of your being. This Core self, who you develop a relationship with, will guide you through the rest of the course.  
  • This will be instrumental in helping you develop a more resilient life, and is a tool you will continue to use long after the course is finished. 

 

 

Phase II

  • Phase II is about unlearning common cultural beliefs that we’re all supposed to be a certain way. Instead, you will learn to see the true value in the many ways of being. You will do this through learning about the four personality elements and your own unique combination of these elements.

 Phase IV  

  • Phase IV is about developing your resilience through friendship, community, and boundaries. This phase is about how the world outside yourself is such a huge part of your resilience roadmap. It includes guidance, journal prompts and exercises to help you develop this area of your life further.

Rosalee de la Forêt, RH, is passionate about inspiring you to enjoy plants every single day, whether it’s marveling at their beauty or using their gifts as food and medicine. She is the best-selling author of the books Alchemy of Herbs and Wild Remedies and a registered herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild. Rebecca Altman loves connecting people: to the earth, to plants, to each other, and to themselves. Is Building Resilience the right course for me? 


We created this course for people who are struggling with feeling capable and on top of their lives due to stress, overwhelm and burnout. Through the four phases of the course, we are sharing the skills and herbs that we have turned to countless times to get us through difficult times.

 

This course is right for you if… 

  • You are tired of stress and overwhelm and you want to feel more ease and joy in your daily life. 
  • You feel better on vacation and then come back to daily life and go ‘oh no, this again’ and within a day you’re right back in the cycle. 
  • You feel a sense of dread, or as if the idea of life being this stressful forever is intolerable.
  • You are able to clear some space in your life to do the course. (We estimate 1 hour per week, more or less is also possible.)

While we are completely confident in the course materials, we do want to state upfront that this will be the first year we are releasing the course on the Kajabi platform. Because this platform is new to us (and possibly you), there may be minor mishaps that happen along the way. We aren’t anticipating any major issues. If you are someone who wants everything to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time, then this may not be the year for you. If you are understanding of small human errors (knowing that we are working diligently to bring you the best course possible), then we welcome you! 

 

When does Building Resilience start?

What are your qualifications? 

We’re both herbalists and teachers who have spent a lot of time diving into the challenges of modern society (e.g. stress, overwhelm, burnout). We are not psychologists, doctors, counselors or therapists. We are simply humans, sharing our human experience. This course is not designed or intended to treat illness, help people through trauma, or to provide personalized health consultations of any kind. All requests for personal health challenges will be referred out. 


Do I have to be an herbalist to sign up? 

Definitely not! But an interest in herbs is helpful, as there are short herbal articles and simple recipes for you to do in each Phase.

 

How much time do I need to do this course? 

You’ll need about one hour a week to devote to course materials. This includes reading the materials, doing the exercises, listening to meditations, making herbal recipes, attending the live Q&As and participating in the community group. 

You may find that some weeks require less time and others more. We designed individual lessons and exercises to be short (but powerful!)

Like anything in life, ultimately, you will get out of this what you put into it. 

 

Do I only have a limited time to access course materials? What if I fall behind? 

You have lifetime access to the course. 

We will be doing 4 live Q&As and we highly recommend that you either watch these live or watch the recording shortly after. 

We will closely monitor the community group for 5 months. After that, the group will stay open but we won’t be popping in as often. 

 

What if the course is too expensive for me? 

We’ve intentionally priced this course tuition at a very low price and we’ve also offered a payment plan. We know that the value of transforming your life from one filled with overwhelm and chronic stress to ease and joy is priceless! Will there be concrete ways given to use herbs rather than simply saying, “chamomile can help”?  

Yes! Each phase comes with succinct herbal monographs to help you get to know the plants better. After the monographs (or getting to know you phase), we give you simple, easy and often delicious recipes for you to try. Recipes range from teas, to herbal sprays, to massage oils and more.
